Hadiah Sako is regarded as the most prestigious literary award by novelists in Malaysia. This award was introduced in appreciation of the significant contributions made by the late Datuk Dr. Ishak Haji Mohamad or more affectionately known as Pak Sako, to the field of Malay literature.

Hadiah Sako is held once every two years especially for the Bahasa Malaysia category. It is open to all citizens of Malaysia who will vie for the top prize of RM30 000 in cash.
